On behalf of the Chesna family and the Weymouth Police Department, I would like to thank the Braintree community for the outpouring of support during this very difficult time. When Mike's procession exited the highway on to Granite Street and we saw the hundreds of people lined up on the sidewalk waving flags, all the way to Blue Hills Cemetary, it was truly moving!! Sgt. Chesna was great person, an amazing father and one heck of a Police Officer! Thank you for that great tribute!

As you all know , The Humboldt Broncos, who play in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, were travelling to a semi-final play-off game on Friday evening at 17:00 local time (23:00 GMT) when their bus collided with a transport truck.
There were 29 people travelling on the bus, aged between 16 and 21. Authorities earlier said three were in critical condition but later provided an update to say the death toll had risen to 15.

Braintree Youth Hockey had 11 young men who played BYH through 12th grade and helped make the Midget program a huge success. Coaches Rich Dean and Sean McDevitt had an end of season scrimmage, pizza party and presented each with a plaque. Thank You fellas and good luck in all your future endeavors!
Congratulations to the Braintree U14 A1 Blue & U14 A2 White (Bantams) for reaching the Mass State hockey Championship Rounds. These teams had to win the District 3 play-down tournament to get into the Mass State tournament. The State tournament was held this past weekend (3/2- 3/4) in Marlborough MA. There were 8 teams in each of the Tier 2 & Tier 3 divisions. Both Braintree teams played very well earning themselves spots in the Tier 2 & Tier 3 final games.
The A2 team went 3-1 with 17 goals for & 6 goals against, placing 2nd in the final game of the Tier 3 series! The A1 team went 4-0 with 16 goals for & 4 goals against, finishing 1st in the Tier 2 series and becoming State Champs!
This past weekend, some of the BYH coaches got together for the annual BYH Coaches Hockey Game at Shea Rink. It was an epic battle, but nobody knows who really won, The dark jerseys or the white jerseys!!!
Mite B White along with the Boston Shamrocks and Spaulding Rehab were able to play some sled hockey at Veterans Alliance Rink in Everett. Special thanks to Coach Matt Welnicki for organizing the event, as it was a great experience for all involved!!!
Congratulations to Braintree's Adam Gaudette for being selected Hockey East Player of the Month (January 2018). Adam had 14 points (7G - 7A) in only 8 games for the Northeastern Huskies!! Adam is also in the running for the Hoby Baker award!! Please follow the link below to vote for Adam!

The Peewee B White team traveled to Waterville Valley and took home the Deep Freeze Tournament Championship. The kids finished with an undefeated record of 3-0-1 and an impressive 1 goal against for the entire tournament.

The U19B Girls team finished the regular season 12-0-1 to earn the #1 seed in the playoffs. In semi-finals on Saturday November 11th, they defeated the #4 seed South Coast Panthers 4-1 to advance to the Championship game vs the #3 seed South Shore Seahawks on Sunday November 12th. Behind stellar goaltending, strong defensive play, and timely goal scoring the team finished the season unbeaten with a 2-0 win in the Championship Game. Congratulations to all the girls and all the best to Lily McGourty, Gabbie Stornaielo, and Julia Recupero who played their final BYH game.

A group of Braintree girls made up from the Squirt A, B, B2 and Mite B teams came together over February vacation to win the Over the Edge tournament in Quincy. The girls went undefeated during the tournament and beat Mass Edge 3-2 in a thrilling championship game. Great win girls!

Coach Kevin Burchill has moved his skate sharpening machine to Zapustas Arena in Randolph. You can still drop your skates off at Kevin's house (176 Cain Ave. Braintree) or just drop them off at the rink. Kevin will be at Zapustas on all the nights that Braintree teams are there!!
